SEND Youth Advisors Surrey (SYAS) - Do you know someone who should join?

SYAS - SEND Youth Advisors Surrey (previously known as SEND Voices) need your help to spread the word about their fantastic participation groups, aimed at children and young people who receive or have received SEND support across Surrey. They are looking for as many young people as they can to join their participation groups and help to make a difference to SEND services.

The group’s main aim is to give young people with SEND the opportunity to help in changing, shaping and developing the services that directly affect them, by using their own experiences. The group creates a safe and fun environment for participants to get involved and be part of a variety of projects, including school/pupil engagement, presentations and being a part of the recruitment panel when Surrey employ new members of staff within the service.

SYAS currently run two groups across Surrey, in Woking and Epsom. The Epsom group is brand new, so your help is needed to spread the word across services and try and get as many young people involved as possible.

Both SYAS groups meet regularly at;

  • Quadrant Court, Woking (1st and 3rd Thursday of the month, 5.30pm – 7.30pm)
  • The Forge Scout Hut, Epsom (3rd Wednesday of the month, 5.30pm – 7.30pm)

If you know a young person who would like to be involved then please don't hesitate to contact the Rights and Participation team on either: rap.team@surreycc.gov.uk or 01483 519571.
